Diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa in 2022, Wanjiru faced isolation, fear, and a lack of information. She didn't know where to turn or who could understand what she was experiencing. Finding VARP changed everything.
Today, she leads peer patient networks, sharing resources and building hope for people across Nairobi County. "For the first time, I met other people walking the same road. I'm not alone anymore," she says.
Wanjiru's work ensures that newly diagnosed patients have a supportive community to welcome them, offering practical advice and emotional support when it is needed most.
